Junior dos Santos takes out Fabricio Werdum in the Knockout of the Week (VIDEO)

Back at UFC 90, now-UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos made his UFC debut against Fabricio Werdum. Though MMA fans knew dos Santos was a student of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and a good striker, they had no idea of just how good until this happened. Skip to the three-minute mark for the action.

Since then, JDS has rattled off seven straight wins. Only two have gone to the judges cards, and he won two Knockout of the Night bonuses. Will that streak continue against Frank Mir on Saturday night? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Knockout of the week: Chan Sung Jung?s quick strike on Mark Hominick

Everyone's favorite zombie, Chan Sung Jung, is fighting Dustin Poirier at UFC on Fuel 3 Tuesday night. Here's a little reminder of what the featherweight can do:

His last two bouts ended memorably. In December, he knocked out Mark Hominick, as seen above, and in March of 2011 took out Leonard Garcia with the rarely-seen twister submission. Will he pull the great-ending hat trick on Tuesday? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Weekend warriors: Daniel Straus takes tournament and Michael Chiesa scores upset

The MMA world continued to turn as you were off celebrating Mother's Day, so here's a quick rundown of what you need to know from the weekend.

As you can see from the video highlights, at Bellator Daniel Straus took the featherweight tournament final in a unanimous decision over Marlon Sandro. With that win, Straus will get to vie for the Bellator featherweight belt, which is currently held by Pat Curran. Patricky Freire will fight for it next.

Bellator was also marred by controversy as Waachiim Spiritwolf was winning his bout with Marius Zaromskis. However, Spiritwolf sustained a cut too severe to go on. For if the stoppage was justified, let's turn to veteran MMA journalist Jim Genia:

Tough break for Waachim Spiritwolf on that cut-stoppage, as he was wrecking Marius Zaromskis.  However, in no way, shape or form do I question that stoppage.  Dr. Sherry Wulkan was the one who waved the bout off, and she's been a ringside physician for more MMA bouts than 99.9% of the world has even read about on the Internet.

Marcin Held won with a quick heel hook, and Marcus Galvao took a decision to earn a spot in the bantamweight tournament finals.

Quarterfinals were underway at set of "The Ultimate Fighter." Before the bouts, Dana White broke the news about Dominick Cruz's torn ACL to both teams before confirming that Cruz will stay on to coach for the rest of the season.

In the first quarterfinal, James Vick pressured Joe Proctor and avoided his submissions to take the two-round decision. Michael Chiesa moved on to the semifinals by scoring a TKO over Justin Lawrence in the third round. Lawrence was considered the favorite coming into the show, so Chiesa's win was an upset.

This Friday, Team Cruz's Vinc Pichel will fight Team Faber's Chris Saunders and a bout between teammates, as Team Faber's Al Iaquinta faces Andy Ogle.

UFC Champ Jon Jones involved in November early AM traffic stop as well (w/police report)

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

JonesJones_180_45.jpg

It turns out Saturday's arrest for suspicion of DUI wasn't the first time UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Jon Jones has run afoul of the law in his Bentley. According to multiple reports, Jones had an incident just last November in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Alcohol wasn't involved in this case, but some alleged reckless driving was. At 3:04AM local time in Albuquerque, the morning of Nov. 24, Jones was stopped after "flying" around a corner before pulling into the parking lot of "Fantasy World," Albuquerque's "fully-nude" strip club.

The stop was made in that parking lot, where Jones was found to be driving under a revoked license. Criminal charges were filed on Dec. 8, 2011, according to a report from TheMMACorner.com, for "driving on a revoked license" and "sliding or losing traction." Both charges were eventually dropped on March 8 of this year.

The police report of the incident was revealed in a report by BloodyElbow.com. Check it out below, and check out the PDF of the report here.

"On 11/24/11 I observed a black Bentley turn Northbound on Jefferson NE from Westbound McCleod NE. The vehicle came around the corner sideways and tires squealing. The vehicle continued North at a high rate of speed and pulled into the Fantasy World parking lot. I conducted as traffic stop and contacted the driver, identified as Jonathan Jones. I ran Jones drivers license through MVD and it was suspended. I then ran his drivers license through NCIC and they confirmed his it was suspended. Jones was cited for loss of traction and suspended drivers license. Jones vehicle was towed from the scene."

Penick's Analysis: The other piece of this particular story is just why Jones had a revoked license in the first place, but that isn't known at this point. Still, this is showing a pattern of reckless driving behavior from Jones, and he's absolutely acting like an untouchable young millionaire. That's not a good thing, and this incident coming to light isn't going to help the image overall right now. Thankfully this incident didn't have any alcohol involved, but it was still driving recklessly at three in the morning. This is an unacceptable string of behavior from the young Champ, and one that absolutely needs to be reversed.

Anthony Pettis targeting September 1 for UFC return, still wants Nate Diaz fight

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

Anthony Pettis is still in the midst of rehab after undergoing shoulder surgery earlier this year, but he's nearing a return to training, and he's planning on being able to return by UFC 151 on September 1 in Las Vegas.

Pettis revealed his planned timetable in an interview with BJPenn.com, and he's still got just one name on his mind for his return fight.

"For me, I want to fight Nate Diaz!" Pettis stated unequivocally. "I mean I was promised a title shot a couple of times, they said it after my [Joe] Lauzon win, you know that I was probably next in line. Then all of sudden Diaz comes out and he has a good performance against Jim Miller and I am forgotten about. So I mean I want to fight the guy that beat [Donald] Cerrone and get the #1 contender spot. I?m looking for a title shot here in my next couple fights or you know one more win and then a title shot."

"I feel that I am still the #1 contender and Nate Diaz comes down in weight, beats Cerrone - and I mean Cerrone was on a bit of a tear but it wasn?t like he was beating top 10 guys. Then Diaz beats Jim Miller, who got that fight for beating Melvin Guillard, and I beat Joe Lauzon who also beat Melvin Guillard so I think we are both right there. That?s why I want to clear things up and show everybody that I am the real #1 contender, so I want to fight Nate Diaz!"

The UFC told Diaz he'll get the next shot after Ben Henderson and Frankie Edgar rematch this August, and he's said he's content with waiting it out. However, if the UFC decides to give Pettis what he wants, there will be a major fight in the lightweight division on September 1.

Penick's Analysis: A Pettis-Diaz fight would be an incredible bout, but Pettis isn't likely to get his wish on this one. There is something to be said for keeping them separated for now and having each of them get a shot at the Lightweight Title, but it is disappointing for Pettis to be stuck and passed over. For now, he's just got to stay busy, win fights, and keep himself on track to get his shot, and he'll be there sooner than later.
